Posted on Aug 19, 2010

Two Oxnard men were arrested Monday for robbery and carjacking, and police are still looking for a third suspect thought to be involved. The incident occurred at about 1:55 am on August 16.

The three attackers reportedly approached a thirty-five-year-old Oxnard resident near Channel Islands Boulevard and Saviers Road. One of the attackers put a gun to his head, while the others threatened him with beer bottles, demanding money. After taking the man's cash, the attackers stole his car.

About thirty minutes after the man reported the crime, police officers spotted the stolen vehicle driving near Saviers Road and Hill Street. Officers tried to stop the car, but it would not pull over, starting a slow-speed pursuit.

Two of the men jumped from the car during the pursuit and were pursued on foot. After another thirty minutes the driver, a sixteen-year-old Oxnard resident, surrendered. A search of the car uncovered a .45-caliber pistol hidden under the seat.

The driver was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery, carjacking, and evading arrest. Vidal Magana, 20, of Oxnard, was also booked into county jail on suspicion of robbery and carjacking. Police are still looking for a third suspect.
