Police are still searching for a twenty-three-year-old Oxnard resident suspected of killing another man during a fight. The incident occurred at around 10:00 Tuesday night in the 2000 block of San Jose Street.

Rene Ramos, the suspect in the fatal shooting of twenty-one-year-old Adrian Lerma, was seen by witnesses shooting Lerma multiple times after a fight between the two men escalated. Lerma tried to run to a nearby house for help, but collapsed on a driveway.

Lerma was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, killed by multiple gunshot wounds. Ramos, the suspected killer, fled the scene on foot and has still not been found by police.

Heavily-armed police from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Team surrounded Ramos' house for about five hours on Wednesday before entering with the help of a bomb squad, but Ramos was not inside.

Police believe Ramos left the house earlier in a tan 2001 Chevy Impala, license plate 6KRJ476. Tuesday's fatal shooting was the eleventh homicide in Ventura County this year, seven of which happened in Oxnard.
