Ventura police have arrested seven teenagers in the recent burglaries in the Thousand Oaks area, and are on the lookout for an eighth.
Authorities arrested the suspects after they were pulled over for joyriding in a stolen vehicle. One of the teenagers, 19-year-old Rusty Sellner, fled the scene on foot. The rest of the suspects, girls and boys ranging from 15 to 17 years old, were charged with auto theft in Ventura—but police have reason to believe they were involved in a string of recent burglaries as well.
Additional charges, including commercial burglary, possession of stolen property, grand theft, and violation of probation were added after detectives uncovered evidence linking the teens to break-ins around Thousand Oaks.
Sellner is facing similar felony charges, including evading deputies during a vehicle pursuit.
Detectives believe that Sellner is hiding somewhere in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks. He has been described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, about 5’10” tall and weighing 150 pounds.
Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to an "arrest and conviction criminal complaint against the persons responsible for these crimes." Anyone wishing to leave an anonymous tip can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
